Our
History
19th
and 20th century furniture and decorative objects
EDWARD
OLIVER is located in an interesting side street in the charming abbey
town of Sherborne,Dorset .The shop is set in an 18th century former
stables and has an abundance of rustic character which complements the
stock, helping to create the relaxed, stylish look that Edward has set
out to achieve.
Edward
Oliver opened in January 2004 and has become well established with a
reputation for selling interesting yet functional pieces of furniture
as well as choice decorative objects. You won't find any shiny, brown
pieces of furniture, instead an eclectic mixture of 19th and 20th century
vintage,
painted and modern items fill the showrooms. Each piece has been carefully
restored where needed and as a result has been given a new lease of
life for a few more generations.
After
studying contemporary furniture design at the Buckinghamshire Chilterns
University College in High Wycombe Edward began designing and making
bespoke pieces of furniture from commissions. This lead to an appreciation
of the design and structure of period furniture and lighting
and an interest in sourcing damaged or incomplete items and bringing
them back to life.
Edward
tries to keep an interesting and varied range of stock, however please
don't hesitate to contact him if you are having trouble locating a certain
style or piece of furniture as he regularly sources items for customers.
